Description
IgG antibodies to Trichomonas vaginalis indicate a previous or chronic trichomonas infection. The test is used to confirm the diagnosis in cases of asymptomatic infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, and recurrent STIs.
When and who needs the test?
- if trichomoniasis is suspected;
- in patients with chronic inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary tract;
- in couples with infertility or before IVF/ICSI programs;
- women with recurrent miscarriages or pregnancy complications;
- as a supplementary test in case of negative PCR results in the presence of symptoms.
