Description
IgG antibodies to Mycoplasma hominis indicate a past or chronic infection. The test is used to evaluate causes of infertility, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, pregnancy complications, or when STI treatment is ineffective.
When and who needs the test?
- For couples with infertility – to identify chronic or past infectious factors (especially in cases of tuboperitoneal infertility or abnormal sperm analysis).
- For women with suspected chronic endometritis, cervicitis, or pelvic inflammatory disease.
- For women with recurrent miscarriages, missed abortions, or unsuccessful IVF attempts.
- For men with chronic prostatitis, fertility problems, or unexplained urethritis.
- After treatment for STIs – to assess the immune response dynamically (in combination with IgA/PCR).
- In complex or asymptomatic cases – if it is necessary to rule out a chronic infection or determine the impact of a past illness on reproductive function.
