2032. Rubella virus, IgG antibodies
Description
Rubella is triggered by a virus from the togavirus family. Infection occurs by airborne droplets and transplacental. The immune system releases antibodies in response to the appearance of the virus. The first to appear are IgM antibodies, which are present only in the active period of the disease. A little later, immunoglobulins G are released, which provide reliable protection against re-infection. Antibodies are also synthesized in the case of vaccination.
The identification of specific immunoglobulins G allows one to assess the body's defense against rubella.
When and who needs the test?
- diagnostics of the previous or recent infection caused by the rubella virus;
- examination during planning and during the current pregnancy;
- assessment of the strength of immunity before / after vaccination.
