2031. Toxoplasma gondii, IgM antibodies
Description
Toxoplasma gondii is a parasite that, entering the human body, can cause severe damage to the nervous and many other systems. The immune system reacts to the presence of Toxoplasma in the body by secreting specific antibodies. Acute-phase IgM antibodies are synthesized first.

The test can be used to diagnose acute toxoplasmosis and, in conjunction with the determination of other antibodies, in screening during pregnancy.
