Description
The IgG antibody test for Varicella Zoster Virus (human herpesvirus type 3) indicates whether a person has immunity to chickenpox or herpes zoster (shingles). A positive result suggests a past infection or previous vaccination against the virus.
When and who needs the test?
- Pregnant women or those planning pregnancy – to check immunity to chickenpox.
