2016. Hepatitis E virus (HEV), IgM antibodies
Description
Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a causative agent that can provoke acute or chronic inflammation of the liver. It is transmitted mainly through water and food that got into the feces of the patient, as well as through poorly processed meat (mainly pork). Immediately after the development of the disease, IgM is released (acute phase antibodies that quickly disappear), after a while IgG begins to be released, which remain in the body for a long time.
The detection of IgM antibodies in the blood indicates the development of acute hepatitis E. The analysis should be carried out along with the determination of antibodies to other viruses that provoke hepatitis.
When and who needs the test?

- examination of persons with an increased risk of infection when a hepatitis clinic appears.
Biological material
- Venous blood
