2010. Hepatitis B virus (HBV), HBcorAg, total antibodies
Description
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is an infectious agent that provokes the development of hepatitis B. The body reacts to the appearance of virus antigens by secreting specific antibodies. The first to appear are IgM antibodies to the HBcorAg antigen, a little later IgG to this antigen are formed.
Determination of total antibodies to the HBcorAg antigen makes it possible to detect hepatitis B virus infection at almost all stages of the disease.
The analysis is widely used for the diagnosis and differentiation of hepatitis. In addition, it makes it possible to conduct a retrospective diagnosis of hepatitis B (to identify signs of a past illness).
