Description
Somatotropic hormone (STH) is a pituitary hormone, also known as growth hormone. STH regulates a number of physiological processes in the human body and promotes growth during childhood and adolescence. After reaching age 20, STH activity gradually declines.
Determining STH levels helps determine the cause of abnormally accelerated or delayed physical development and diagnose a range of endocrine disorders.
Optimally, this test should be supplemented with IGF-1 levels.
