The ‘Folate metabolism. Mini’ package is a minimal set of tests that are important for predicting and assessing the risk of cancer and cardiovascular pathology, as well as intrauterine development abnormalities during pregnancy due to changes in folate metabolism and increased homocysteine levels, and to determine the possible development of pathology in offspring.
Prescribing is appropriate for:
- Hyperhomocysteinemia (elevated blood homocysteine levels);
- pregnancy planning;
- pregnancy termination, intrauterine fetal death in the second half of pregnancy;
- birth of an infant with neural tube, heart muscle, or digestive tract abnormalities;
- CHD, arterial hypertension, atherosclerosis, venous thrombosis;
- thromboembolism;
- antiphospholipid syndrome;
- genetic predisposition to cancer;
- prescription chemo-radiation therapy.
When and who needs the test?
