Description

Package No. 369 is an expanded serological test for toxoplasmosis. It includes IgM, IgA, IgG, and IgG avidity for Toxoplasma gondii. It allows for assessment of the infection stage and identification of primary or past infection, which is especially important during pregnancy.

Package No. 369 is a comprehensive test designed to provide a complete serological assessment of toxoplasmosis. Its purpose is to identify active, chronic, or recent infection, as well as to determine the risk to the fetus in case of infection during pregnancy. Four parameters are tested:

  • Toxoplasma gondii, IgM – appear early in the acute phase of infection. Their presence may indicate recent infection, but requires clarification (they can persist long after infection).
  • Toxoplasma gondii, IgA – appear in recent or active infection, often earlier than IgM. They are an additional marker of the acute phase.
  • Toxoplasma gondii, IgG – indicate a past infection or immunity. The presence of IgG in the absence of IgM/IgA is considered a sign of established protection.
  • IgG avidity to Toxoplasma gondii – assesses the "strength" of IgG binding to the antigen.
    • Low avidity → recent primary infection.
    • High avidity → infection occurred ≥3–4 months ago.

What does this test provide?

  • It helps differentiate between acute, recent, and chronic infections.
  • It allows for assessment of the risk of vertical transmission to the fetus.
  • It reduces the likelihood of misinterpretation of positive IgM results.
  • It is a key test for pregnant women with suspected toxoplasmosis or exposure to a source of infection.

Package No. 369 is a complete solution for the accurate diagnosis of toxoplasmosis, especially in obstetrics and neonatology, where timely detection of the infection is critical for the health of the unborn child.

When and who needs the test?

  • Pregnant women in the first trimester or if infection is suspected.
  • Women planning a pregnancy, to assess immunity.
  • Patients with weakened immune systems (HIV, post-transplant, oncological).
  • In case of fetal abnormalities on ultrasound (ventriculomegaly, calcifications, hydrocephalus).
  • In case of contact with cats, raw meat, or working with soil.
  • To verify questionable IgM results in other tests.

Biological material

  • Venous blood

Preparing for a blood test

In order to exclude factors that may affect the test results, we recommend to follow the preparation rules:

  • an important condition for laboratory tests is to take blood on an empty stomach.
  • 6-12 hours before the test, you should avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, and limit physical activity. Drinking...
