Description
Urea is the end product of protein metabolism, which is formed in the liver and excreted from the body by the kidneys. Pathological changes in the levels of this substance in the blood indicate the development of diseases of the liver or kidneys.
The study of urea in urine in combination with the determination of
ALT, AST, LDH, creatinine, urea nitrogen makes it possible to assess the
adequacy of kidney function, diagnose renal and liver failure, and determine
the effectiveness of their treatment.
When and who needs the test?
- assessment of protein balance, determination of the amount of protein preparations for resuscitation and seriously ill patients receiving enteral and parenteral nutrition;
- decrease in the excretory function of the kidneys in their diseases, acute or chronic renal failure of any origin.

RULES FOR COLLECTING BIOMATERIAL
A spontaneous morning urine sample is used.
- Collect urine for 24 hours, maintaining a normal drinking regime.
