Description
Prenatal biochemical screening of the first trimester Astraia – screening of chromosomal abnormalities of early detection in the fetus.
It includes 2 tests: for human free beta-chorionic gonadotropin and pregnancy-associated protein A. Also, the Astraia program includes an expert-class ultrasound scan for a period of 11-13 weeks +6 days, medical and genetic counseling based on the examination.
The optimal time for the test is 11-13 weeks of pregnancy.
Recommended for screening Down syndrome, Shereshevsky-Turner, Patau, Edwards, Cornelia de Lange.
When and who needs the test?
According to the order of the Ministry of Health No. 417 of 15.07.11, prenatal screening is recommended for all pregnant women, especially for :
- pregnant women over 35 years old;
- if there is a family history of chromosomal abnormalities;
- with Down syndrome in previous pregnancies;
- abnormalities on ultrasound.
