Description

First-trimester biochemical screening for subsequent chromosomal abnormality risk assessment in the ASTRAIA program. This includes PAPP-A and free β-hCG levels. The optimal time is 11 weeks + 0 days to 13 weeks + 6 days.

Package No. 313 (First Trimester Prenatal Biochemical Screening for the ASTRAIA Program: 11 w + 0 days – 13 w + 6 days) is designed for the biochemical stage of first-trimester prenatal screening, which is used for subsequent individualized risk assessment of fetal chromosomal abnormalities in the specialized ASTRAIA program (approved by the FMF, UK).

The package includes two key markers:

  • PAPP-A – pregnancy-associated protein;
  • free β-subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin (free β-HCG).

Determination of these indicators is not a standalone diagnostic and does not automatically calculate individual risk. The final calculation is performed after entering the ultrasound results (CRL, NT, nasal bone) and the pregnant woman's personal data (age, weight, ethnicity, type of pregnancy, etc.) into the ASTRAIA program. This approach allows for timely decisions on further diagnostics (NIPT, amniocentesis), medical genetic counseling, or changes in pregnancy management tactics.

When and who needs the test?

Timeframe:

11 weeks 0 days – 13 weeks 6 days of gestation (according to ultrasound data).

Recommended:

  • for all pregnant women in the first trimester, in accordance with Health Ministry Order No. 1437;
  • for women aged 35 years and older;
  • with a history of chromosomal abnormalities;
  • if ultrasound markers or abnormalities are detected early in pregnancy.

Biological material

  • Venous blood

Preparing for a blood test
