Description

Package No. 276 ′Lipid Panel′ helps assess the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) caused by the formation of atherosclerotic plaques. This package includes a standard lipid profile along with two additional lipid markers – Lipoprotein (a) and Apolipoprotein B.

Lipid testing can be used to identify individuals at high risk of cardiovascular disease.

When and who needs the test?

1. As a screening tool for individuals with one or more risk factors:

  • age over 45 for men and 50–55 for women;
  • elevated cholesterol levels based on previous test results;
  • history of a cardiovascular event (e.g., stroke, heart attack);
  • smoking;
  • overweight or obesity;
  • unhealthy diet;
  • insufficient physical activity;
  • high blood pressure (hypertension);
  • having a first-degree relative who developed heart disease at an early age (before 55 in men and before 65 in women);
  • presence of diabetes or prediabetes.

2. For monitoring:

  • cardiovascular risk after a cardiac event;
  • changes in lipid levels during treatment.

3. As part of a diagnostic workup for conditions that may affect lipid levels, such as pancreatitis, chronic kidney disease, or decreased thyroid function (hypothyroidism).
