Description
Pancreatic amylase is an enzyme that is secreted by the pancreas and is involved in the breakdown of carbohydrates. It is specific for the pancreas and, as a result, makes it possible to diagnose diseases with damage to this organ with high accuracy (acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer).
To increase the information content of the analysis, it is desirable to perform it in combination with the determination of the activity of lipase, pancreatic elastase.
When and who needs the test?
