Description

Package No. 131 includes tests intended for the primary screening of hepatitis B. It includes tests for HBsAg (Australian antigen) and total antibodies to HBcorAg.

Hepatitis B is an inflammatory liver disease of viral origin. It is characterized by the following symptoms: malaise, nausea, vomiting, weakness, yellowing of the skin and sclera, itching of the skin, darkening of urine. In some cases, the process is chronized, and in 20% cirrhosis develops. The presence of the Australian antigen in the blood indicates infection and the course of hepatitis B or chronic carriage of the virus.

The detection of total antibodies to HBcorAg indicates that hepatitis B was transferred in the past, but it may also indicate an active process.

This package of studies is prescribed for suspected hepatitis B, pregnancy; recommended in combination with tests for antibodies to HBsAg and HBcor Ag and liver enzyme tests.
