Description
A comprehensive diagnostic test for viral hepatitis B.
Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is a protein found on the surface of the hepatitis B virus. HBsAg is detected in the blood during acute and chronic HBV infection, as well as in cases of recent vaccination.
Total antibodies to HBV core antigen (HBcorAg) can be detected in cases of acute and chronic HBV infection, and may also indicate a past infection.
This combined testing differentiates HBV infection from the post-vaccination immune response.
Important! Antibodies to HBV core antigen are not detected in vaccinated individuals.
