Description
PRISCA – screening for chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus in the first trimester. The recommended duration of the test is 11 + 1-13 + 6 weeks of pregnancy. Pregnancy is determined by ultrasound or the date of the last menstrual period.
The biochemical marker is the level of free human chorionic gonadotropin and pregnancy-associated protein A.
The indication for the appointment is screening of all pregnant women in the first trimester of pregnancy to assess the individual risk of the presence of chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus, ultrasound signs of fetal pathology identified in the first trimester. The test is recommended for screening Down, Edwards and Patau syndromes.
When and who needs the test?
According to the order of the Ministry of Health No. 417 of 15.07.11, prenatal screening is recommended for:
- all pregnant women, and especially for pregnant women over 35 years old;
- if there is a family history of chromosomal abnormalities;
- with Down syndrome in previous pregnancies;
- abnormalities on ultrasound.
