Description
Potassium is the most important intracellular trace element involved in metabolic processes, conduction of nerve impulses, and heart function.
A comprehensive
assessment of the level of potassium, magnesium and sodium in the urine allows
you to assess the water and electrolyte balance, diagnose diseases of the
kidneys, heart, adrenal glands.
When and who needs the test?
- evaluation of the effectiveness of potassium replacement therapy in resuscitation patients;
- examination of patients with signs of imbalance in water and electrolyte balance, dehydration, acidosis or alkalosis;
- impaired renal function;
- adrenal gland pathology;
- the use of drugs that affect the excretion of potassium; when detecting a low or high potassium content in the blood.

RULES FOR COLLECTING BIOMATERIAL
A spontaneous morning urine sample is used.
- Collect urine for 24 hours, maintaining a normal drinking regime.
