Description
Sodium is a vital trace mineral that is present in body fluids and regulates the volume of fluid in the extracellular space.
Determination of sodium levels in daily urine allows you to assess the water-salt balance, to determine the functional activity of the kidneys, in combination with other laboratory tests and instrumental research methods, it allows you to diagnose diseases of the kidneys and adrenal glands, the cardiovascular system.
When and who needs the test?
- if sodium in the blood is lowered or increased – to determine the cause of the violation that has arisen – insufficient / excess intake or release of the element;
- for differential diagnosis of diseases accompanied by disorders of water-electrolyte and acid-base balance.
