Package No.24 – a set of tests elaborated for prenatal screening in the first trimester of pregnancy.
The recommended period for test taking is 11-13 weeks of pregnancy. It includes tests to determine the level of free human chorionic gonadotropin and pregnancy-associated protein A.
The indication for the appointment is a screening examination of all pregnant women in the first trimester of pregnancy to assess the individual risk of a chromosomal abnormality in the fetus, ultrasound signs of fetal development pathology identified in the first trimester, the presence of chromosomal abnormalities in close relatives, miscarriages.Recommended for screening chromosomal abnormalities such as Down syndrome, Edwards and Patau syndrome.
When and who needs the test?
According to the order of the Ministry of Health No. 417 of 15.07.11, prenatal screening is recommended for all pregnant women, and especially:
- for pregnant women over 35 years old;
- if there is a family history of chromosomal abnormalities;
- with Down syndrome in previous pregnancies;
- in case of abnormalities on ultrasound.
