Description
The beta subunit of chorionic gonadotropin is one of the subunits of a specific hormone – chorionic gonadotropin, which is formed in the shell of the human embryo.
The test is taken for the purpose of early diagnosis of pregnancy, detection of its complications and diagnosis of diseases associated with impaired secretion of hCG.
When and who needs the test?
- prenatal biochemical screening in the first trimester of pregnancy to diagnose the risk of developing fetal chromosomal abnormalities;
- diagnostics and monitoring of the course of trophoblast diseases;
- for the diagnosis of pregnancy, including multiple and ectopic;
- to monitor the course of pregnancy;
- to identify delays in the development of the fetus, the threat of spontaneous abortion, placental insufficiency;
- or the diagnosis of amenorrhea;
- to monitor the effectiveness of artificial abortion;
- as part of a comprehensive examination to identify fetal malformations.
