Description
Lipase is an enzyme that takes an active part in the breakdown of fats. The greatest amount of lipase is secreted by the pancreas.
Determination of lipase levels is widely used to diagnose the state of the body after liver transplantation, to determine the causes of impaired fat metabolism.
Comprehensive assessment of the levels of lipase, amylase and pancretic elastase, triglycerides and cholesterol increases the information content of the test.
When and who needs the test?
- acute and chronic alcoholic pancreatitis;
- perforated stomach ulcer, acute cholecystitis, small bowel obstruction;
- AKI (acute kidney injury), chronic renal failure (chronic renal failure), diabetic ketoacidosis, liver cirrhosis, conditions after organ transplantation.
