1138. α-2-macroglobulin
Description
α-2-macroglobulin is a protein synthesized by the liver and involved in the regulation of blood coagulation processes.
Determination of α-2-macroglobulin is indicated for patients with chronic hepatitis to assess the progression of fibrosis.
Also, this indicator can be used in the diagnosis of pancreatitis, nephrotic syndrome and diabetes mellitus. It is worth investigating in combination with ALT, AST, ALP, amylase, elastase, creatinine, creatine phosphokinase, proteinogram (packages 4.1 and 4.11).
When and who needs the test?
- biochemical assessment of the risk of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic liver disease;
- nephrotic syndrome, pancreatitis, diabetes mellitus.
