Description

The Women's Oncopanel is a complex of 5 tumor markers that helps assess the risk of developing common cancers in women: breast, ovarian, thyroid, pancreatic, and gastrointestinal. It is recommended for those with a family history of cancer and for post-treatment monitoring.

The package includes the following markers:

  • CA 15-3 – a breast cancer marker;
  • CA 125 – a sensitive marker for ovarian tumors, especially epithelial ones;
  • CA 19-9 – a marker for tumors of the pancreas, gallbladder, stomach, and intestines;
  • CEA – a nonspecific marker whose levels may be elevated in tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, lungs, and breast;
  • Thyroglobulin – a protein used as a tumor marker in patients with thyroid cancer (especially papillary and follicular forms).

Tumor markers are not a stand-alone diagnostic method, so their results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical, laboratory, and instrumental data. Elevated levels are also possible in inflammatory, hyperplastic, or benign processes.

When and who needs the test?

  • women with a strong family history of cancer;
  • if a tumor is suspected (based on ultrasound, MRI, or CT scan results);
  • in the presence of non-specific complaints (weight loss, anemia, abdominal pain, etc.);
  • as part of a follow-up examination after cancer treatment (to monitor for recurrence or metastases);
  • as part of preventive cancer screening after age 40, especially for hormone-dependent diseases or menopause.

Biological material

  • Venous blood
