1130. NT-proBNP
Description
Natriuretic peptide is a hormone synthesized by myocardial cells and is responsible for regulating water and electrolyte balance. It begins to actively stand out when the heart is overloaded and its cavities (ventricles and atria) are stretched.
Natriuretic peptide is a marker for the development of heart failure. It is
used for the diagnosis and selection of effective treatment for heart failure
of various origins. It should be studied in combination with indicators of
electrolyte balance (potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium), markers of
gostrophase reactions (C-reactive protein) and specific markers of pathological
changes in the myocardium (AST, troponin).
When and who needs the test?
Diagnosis (in the early preclinical stages), differential diagnosis, assessment of severity, effectiveness of ongoing therapy for heart failure.
