1101. Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT)
Description
The activated partial thromboplastin time is one of the tests that allow a comprehensive assessment of the adequacy of hemostasis in the body. This study will help identify abnormalities in the work of blood coagulation factors and find the root cause of both thrombosis and a tendency to bleeding. It is used to detect hemophilia, thrombosis, von Willebrand disease, antiphospholipid syndrome, in the form of screening during pregnancy and in the preoperative period. The indicator is best studied in conjunction with other factors of blood coagulation.
When and who needs the test?
- identification of congenital or acquired deficiencies of coagulation factors, inhibitors in the presence of a clinic of hypocoagulation (bleeding);
- in the complex of diagnostics of hemophilia and von Willebrand disease;
- in the complex assessment of hemostasis in thrombotic complications (for screening for the presence of APS);
- monitoring treatment with unfractionated heparin;
- preoperative assessment of the risk of bleeding;
- in the complex of management of pregnant women (assessment of the risks of bleeding / thrombosis).
