Description
Folic acid is a substance from the group of water-soluble vitamins. It takes part in metabolism, DNA synthesis, and ensures the normal functioning of the blood system.
If the levels of folate and/or vitamin B12 in the body decrease, anemia develops.
Determining folate levels is an important part of diagnosing anemic conditions. It should be taken in conjunction with an assessment of vitamin B12 and iron levels.
