Description
Transferrin is a protein responsible for the transport of iron from the intestine to the liver, spleen, and bone marrow. Transferrin levels are the most objective indicator of iron deficiency in the body. Their study is used in the diagnosis of anemia and hemochromatosis. Transferrin levels should be studied in conjunction with ferritin and iron measurements.
