Description
Fructosamine, a complex of glucose and a human blood protein (most commonly albumin), helping in an objective assessment of average glucose levels over a period of approximately 10-20 days prior to testing.
This test can help monitor blood glucose (sugar) levels over the past 2-3 weeks in patients with diabetes, especially if glycated hemoglobin testing is insufficient to control diabetes, and assess the effectiveness of recent changes to the diabetes treatment plan.
When and who needs the test?
Evaluation of the effectiveness of hypoglycemic therapy in diabetes mellitus (in particular in patients with abnormal hemoglobin).
