Description
C-peptide is an inactive substance that formed after the separation of insulin from proinsulin. Determination of C-peptide levels allows assessment of insulin secretion. C-peptide excreted much longer than insulin, and its levels not affected by the patient's treatment with insulin and the presence of antibodies to insulin, which increases the reliability and accuracy of the results.
