Description
Glucose is the main source of energy in the human body. Normally, it passes through the kidneys without entering the urine. However, when levels are significantly elevated or kidney function is impaired, glucose enters the urine and can be measured using laboratory methods.
Urine glucose levels are used as an additional marker for the detection of diabetes, kidney and thyroid disease, and poisoning with substances toxic to the kidneys (morphine, strychnine, phosphorus, etc.).
