Description
Glucose is the main source of energy in the human body. Normally, it passes through the
kidneys and does not enter the urine. But with a significant increase in its
levels or disruption of the kidneys, glucose enters the urine and can be
determined there by laboratory methods.
Assessment of glucose levels in the
urine is used as an additional marker to detect diabetes mellitus, kidney and
thyroid diseases, poisoning with substances toxic to the kidneys (morphine, strychnine,
phosphorus, etc.).
When and who needs the test?
- diabetes (diabetes, renal, steroid);
- kidney pathology;
- sharp abdomen;
- poisoning with morphine, strychnine, phosphorus;
- hyperthyroidism.
