Description
Cholesterol is a substance found in most body tissues. It is synthesized in the liver and enters the body with food, takes part in the formation a few vital substances (hormones, vitamins, enzymes).
When metabolic processes are disturbed, cholesterol accumulates, which leads to an increased risk of heart attacks, strokes, atherosclerosis, hypertension and other diseases.
Cholesterol should be determined in combination with HDL, LDL, triglycerides.
