Description
Rheumatoid factor is a separate group of autoantibodies modified under the influence of infectious agents, which consider certain types of immunoglobulins synthesized by the body to be foreign. These antibodies provoke the development of an inflammatory process in the joints and around the vessels, followed by damage to their tissues. Rheumatoid factor is used to diagnose autoimmune diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, vasculitis, chronic inflammatory diseases
When and who needs the test?
- rheumatoid arthritis, differential diagnosis and prognosis of inflammatory diseases of the joints;
- autoimmune diseases;
- differential diagnosis of mixed cryoglobulinemia type II or Sjogren's syndrome, monitoring of patients with Sjogren's syndrome (disappearance of rheumatoid factor may be a signal of the onset of lymphoma);
