1038. Immunoglobulin A (IgA, serum)
Description
Immunoglobulins A are glycoproteins that protect the mucous membranes. Their increase may indicate an infectious process, neoplasm, liver disease, myeloma, cystic fibrosis.
A decrease in IgA may indicate hypogammaglobulinemia, leukemia, celiac disease, AIDS, candidiasis.
This test is used to assess local humoral immunity, diagnose immunodeficiencies, and identify the causes of relapses of infectious diseases.
The complex is prescribed to determine the level of IgE, IgG, IgM, circulating immune complexes, C-reactive protein.
When and who needs the test?
- assessment of local humoral immunity;
- diagnosis of immunodeficiency states;
- diagnosis of the causes of recurrence of bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections;
- diagnostics of the state of the immune system in autoimmune pathologies, blood diseases, neoplasms, lymphoproliferative diseases;
