Description
Cancer antigen CA 72-4 is a high molecular weight mucinous glycoprotein produced in many tissues of the fetus and normally practically does not manifest itself in an adult. The production of CA 72-4 increases in almost all patients with malignant tumors of glandular origin, especially in gastric cancer, mucinous ovarian cancer.
CA 72-4 is produced by tumor cells and enters the blood, which makes it an effective tumor marker, which allows you to monitor the course of the disease.
When and who needs the test?
- monitoring the effectiveness of gastric cancer treatment and detecting relapses of the disease;
- obtaining information on the prevalence of the tumor process and the detection of metastases of gastric cancer;
