1027. Tumor marker of ovaries (CA 125)
Description
Ovarian tumor marker (CA 125) is a tumor marker whose levels may increase in ovarian cancer, as well as in gastrointestinal, renal, and lung pathologies. It is used for diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and recurrence detection. It is recommended to be tested in combination with HE4, CA 19-9, CA 50, and other markers.
When and who needs the test?
- women with suspected ovarian cancer;
- to evaluate the effectiveness of therapy and chemotherapy;
- for the early detection of recurrences or metastases;
- in the presence of nonspecific pelvic symptoms;
- in patients with a high familial or hereditary risk of developing ovarian cancer.
