1027. Tumor marker of ovaries (CA 125)
Description
CA 125 is a protein secreted by the epithelial cells of the ovaries, gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, and lungs. An increase in its levels may indicate the development of an oncological process in these organs. Most often detected in the case of ovarian tumors.
The test is used in the diagnosis and evaluation of the effectiveness of the treatment of ovarian cancer and pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Given the low specificity of the test, it should be taken in combination with other ovarian and pancreatic tumor markers (CA 50, CA 19-9, HE4, BRCA, etc.).
