Description
Progesterone is a steroid hormone whose primary role is to prepare a woman’s body for pregnancy. It is produced by the corpus luteum in the ovaries
When and who needs the test?
- Identification of infertility causes.
- Ovulation marker.
- Assessment of luteal phase deficiency and corpus luteum activity.
- Diagnosis of ectopic or abnormal pregnancy (in combination with hCG testing).
- Monitoring the effectiveness of progesterone injections (for early pregnancy support).
