9767. 17-β Estradiol (saliva)
Description
A non-invasive supplemental test used to assess hormonal imbalance and to help identify potential causes of hormone-related reproductive disorders. Estradiol enters saliva from the bloodstream via passive diffusion. Because large steroid-binding proteins do not pass into saliva during its formation, measuring estradiol concentration in saliva allows for a non-invasive assessment of the bioactive (free) form of the hormone.
