Description
Azoospermia is a condition characterized by the absence of spermatozoa in the semen and is manifested by infertility. Azoospermia can be caused by changes in the genetic material of the patient (more often this is a violation in the Y chromosome). The search for such genetic changes is used to establish the root causes of the development of azoospermia in a comprehensive program for diagnosing male infertility.
The test should be taken together with the spermiogram.
When and who needs the test?
- violation of spermatogenesis of unknown etiology;
- violation of spermatogenesis with preserved endocrine function of the testicles;
- diagnosis of the causes of infertility in men;
- determination of a therapeutic approach to obtaining spermatozoa for IVF (and predicting its possibility);
- with prostate cancer in a family history;
- in cases of reproductive dysfunction in the male line in a family history;
- examination of an infertile couple.
