Description

Common wormwood is a weed of the Aster family.

The main allergen in wormwood is defensin, designated Artv 1.

Wormwood pollen often causes hay fever, asthma, and conjunctivitis in sensitized individuals. Art v1 is a specific allergy marker that differentiates between true sensitization to wormwood and cross-reactivity. 79-95% of patients allergic to wormwood are sensitized to Art v1 – the main allergen of wormwood.

When and who needs the test?

For differential diagnosis of the true cause of allergies and cross-reactivity, as well as for identifying patients in need of ASIT therapy.
