Description

Package No. 5.9.1 ‘Ehrlichia/Anaplasma phagocytophilum, IgG/IgM’ is an immunological test kit for the identification of antibodies to the bacterium Anaplasma phagocytophilum, which is transmitted by ticks and causes granulocytic anaplasmosis (ehrlichiosis).

Symptoms of infection are nonspecific: fever up to 38-39°C, chills, headache, nausea, arthralgia, myalgia. Sometimes abdominal discomfort, diarrhea and cough are observed.

Indications for appointment:

  • diagnosis of human ehrlichiosis;
  • differential diagnosis of infections transmitted by ixodid ticks;
  • when the patient is known to have been bitten by a tick within the last month;
  • in the presence of fever after a tick bite;
  • in acute hepatitis and/or kidney disease after visiting ehrlichiosis epidemic areas, and if the patient has limeborreliosis.

When and who needs the test?

When a patient is known to have been bitten by a tick in the past month, when symptoms of acute febrile illness after a tick bite are present, and when there is acute jaundice-free hepatitis and/or kidney damage after visiting granulocytic anaplasmosis-endemic areas.

It is important to make a differential diagnosis if a patient has Lyme Borreliosis, viral tick-borne encephalitis and/or monocytic ehrlichiosis (due to the frequent combination of these infections with granulocytic anaplasmosis).
