9179. Liver and kidney microsomes, total antibody (LKM, method IFT)
Description
Liver microsomes are several types of antigens to which antibodies are formed. Antibodies to liver-kidney microsomes (LKM-1, LKM-2, LKM-3) are markers of acute and chronic liver pathology.
Anti-LKM-1 appear in type 2 autoimmune hepatitis. Anti-LKM-2 and Anti-LKM-3 are found in medicinal and viral hepatitis. They are manifested by weakness, heaviness in the right hypochondrium, jaundice, itchy skin, rash, enlarged liver and lymph nodes.
The test allows detecting the presence of antibodies to all antigenic structures of liver microsomes and is important for the initial examination. I
n the complex, a test for antibodies to soluble hepatic antigen, test of liver enzymes (alkaline phosphatase, ALT, AST), bilirubin is prescribed.
When and who needs the test?
- differential diagnosis of autoimmune liver diseases (autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis);
- diagnostics of type 2 autoimmune hepatitis and control of its treatment;
- defining the tactics of managing patients with hepatitis C.
