Description

Grapefruit is a hybrid of pomelo and sweet orange. On the basis of grapefruit, selected species of tangelo and mineola have been derived. Citrus fruits, including grapefruit, are among the common causes of the development of exacerbations of atopic dermatitis. No specific allergic components have been isolated from grapefruit. therefore, if you are allergic to lemons and oranges, there may be no reaction to grapefruit. At the same time, if you are allergic to latex, cross-allergic reactivity with grapefruit is possible. It should be borne in mind that with excessive consumption of grapefruit, like other citrus fruits, it is possible to develop pseudo-allergic reactions not associated with immune mechanisms.

It is important to know that a glass of grapefruit juice has a significant effect. on the effectiveness of the drugs taken (cordarone, phenazepam, etc.), suppressing the activity of the intestinal isoenzyme cytochrome. The latter is restored no earlier than a day later.
