9061. Allergen. Extract. Mussel (f37), IgE antibodies
Description
Mussels are a genus of marine bivalve mollusks from the Mytilidae family, distributed throughout the world's oceans. Mussels are widely eaten along with other seafood. Most often, a seafood allergy develops in adulthood, but children can also suffer from it. However, unlike allergies to eggs, milk and soy, it does not go away when the child gets older.
Allergic reactions to molluscs and crustaceans can manifest as skin, respiratory, gastrointestinal and/or cardiovascular effects. A rare syndrome "dust mites - crustaceans - mollusks" is described, in which a severe anaphylactic reaction may develop in a person who has never previously consumed mussels (snails, oysters and other seafood), if he has a primary sensitization to house dust mites. Mussels, like other seafood, contain a large amount of histamine, so they can cause not only allergic, but also pseudo-allergic reactions in people who are not directly sensitized to mussels. In general, seafood is not recommended for people with allergic reactions, especially during periods of exacerbations.
The purpose of this test is to determine specific IgE to mussel allergens using the ImmunoCAP method.
When and who needs the test?
Recommended for the diagnosis of allergic diseases – food allergies, atopic dermatitis, respiratory allergies; to determine sensitivity to almonds.
