9034. Tumor marker of pancreas (CA 50)
Description
CA 50 is the most sensitive tumor marker of the gastrointestinal tract, primarily the pancreas.
The test is widely used in the diagnosis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma and colorectal cancer, assessment of the effectiveness of their treatment, monitoring of recurrence and metastasis.
The test should be taken in combination with other markers (CA 19-9, CA 242, etc.).
When and who needs the test?
- suspicion of pancreatic cancer, especially with normal CA 19-9 levels
- suspected colorectal cancer- monitoring the effectiveness of treatment
- monitoring of recurrence, metastases
