Description
Skin biopsy is a pathomorphological examination during which histological analysis of a tissue sample is performed to assess skin changes that may be inflammatory or immune-mediated in nature.
When and who needs the test?
- in the presence of skin lesions with blister or vesicle formation that do not heal for a prolonged period;
- in cases of chronic or recurrent skin lesions of unclear origin;
- in cases of the appearance of erosions, crusts, or areas of skin damage with delayed healing;
- in cases of persistent inflammatory skin changes that do not resolve or respond poorly to treatment;
- when it is necessary to clarify the nature and mechanism of skin involvement;
- in cases where the results of other examinations are insufficiently informative.
