Description
A PCR panel for diagnosing the causes of genital ulcers in urine can detect seven pathogens: HSV-1/2, Treponema pallidum, CMV, VZV, Haemophilus ducreyi, and LGV. This allows for rapid identification of the ulcer's etiology and the selection of targeted therapy.
When and who needs the test?
- Patients with ulcers, rashes, or erosions in the anogenital area.
- In case of pain, itching, discharge, or lymphadenopathy.
- If herpes, syphilis, LGV, CMV, BZV, or chancroid are suspected.
- For the differential diagnosis of STIs.
- Before starting antibiotic therapy or if treatment is ineffective.
- As part of screening sexual partners for STIs.
