3146. PCR. Herpes virus type 7 (u/g scraping, quantification)
Description
This test detects herpes virus type 7 (HHV-7) in the genital mucosa. Quantitative PCR helps assess the viral load on the mucous membranes. It is used for inflammatory processes or recurrent infections, especially in patients with weakened immune systems.
When and who needs the test?
- For inflammation, rashes, discomfort, or itching in the genital area.
- For frequent or atypical urogenital infections, if other pathogens are not confirmed.
- For patients with immunodeficiency (HIV, after chemotherapy, transplants).
- To rule out an underlying viral infection before planning a pregnancy or undergoing surgery.
- For protracted genitourinary tract infections of unknown etiology.
- For monitoring viral load over time or after treatment.

- Scrapes from various sites depending on the test
- Collect the material before starting treatment with antibacterial/antifungal drugs (general and local action).
- In case of treatment monitoring – 14 days after the end of the course of treatment with antibacterial/antifungal drugs.
