* For this test, you must submit the first morning urine sample in a vacuum tube containing boric acid.
* Please purchase a special urine collection kit in advance (which includes a container with a needle holder and a vacuum tube containing boric acid).
Description
This test helps determine whether the herpes virus type 6 (HHV-6) is active. It is performed in cases of prolonged fever, unexplained symptoms, or suspected viral infection, especially in newborns, children, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
When and who needs the test?
- For prolonged or recurrent fever of unknown origin.
- In newborns and young children, especially after a three-day fever with possible complications.
- In patients with weakness, lymphadenopathy, developmental delay, and seizures.
- In immunosuppressed patients (HIV, cancer, post-transplant), in whom HHV-6 may cause reactivation or kidney damage.
- For viral infections of the genitourinary system, in which the involvement of other pathogens has not been confirmed.
- For dynamic monitoring of viral load during or after treatment.

- Urine is collected before the start of treatment with antibacterial/antifungal drugs.
- In case of treatment monitoring – 14 days after the end of the course of treatment with antibacterial/antifungal drugs.
