Description
Herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 are widespread (more than 90% of people are infected). They are the cause of herpes on the face, in the perineum, buttocks, limbs. High probability of damage by viruses and organs of the genitourinary system.
Determination of the genetic material of viruses in the urine allows us to confirm the penetration of herpes viruses of type 1 and / or type 2 into the urinary tract.
The test is used to diagnose herpetic lesions of the genitourinary system.
When and who needs the test?
- For discomfort, pain, or burning during urination.
- If genital herpes is suspected, especially without a rash.
- To detect active HSV infection in immunocompromised patients.
- Pregnant women – if they have symptoms or there is a high risk of fetal infection.
- In children or newborns – if intrauterine or neonatal infection is suspected.
