Description
Anticentromeric antibodies (anti-CENP-B, anti-CENT-B) are found in patients with scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. In patients with systemic scleroderma, the detection of these antibodies indicates a favorable prognosis and a low probability of damage to internal organs.
When and who needs the test?
- recommended for the diagnosis of systemic connective tissue diseases (in particular, systemic scleroderma and its limited form – CREST syndrome);
- to monitor the course and evaluate the progression of scleroderma and CREST syndrome, as well as the effectiveness of their therapy.
